Hello readers! Welcome back! Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving.This weeks post is about the benefits of soup. Soup is one of the best things to eat during fall and winter. Below I have provided a list of the benefits as well as two soup recipes to try.

Italian Wedding Soup

1 box chicken broth

1 can low sodium cream of celery soup 

1 stalk of celery

2 cups of whole wheat pasta noodles

1 red bell pepper

1 green bell pepper

 fresh spinach

fresh carrots


turkey sausage

In a saucepan add the chicken broth and a can of low sodium cream of celery soup. Let this mixture get good and hot. After heating, turn down to simmer. add the whole wheat pasta noodles. Cut up the celery in fine pieces. Chop carrots,peppers,spinach and parsley. Add the vegetables to the broth. Roll up the turkey sausage in small bite sized pieces.  Place them in a skillet with olive oil and sear. Remove them from the pan and add them to the broth.  Let simmer for about 20 minutes. Remove from heat and serve.

Alkalizing Soup

 3 stalks celery or bok choy

 3 carrots 

 1 cup spinach leaves


 1 large onion or 2 cloves garlic

 3 red skinned potatoes

 1/2 teaspoon of creole seasoning

 2 cups of water

Cover with water in soup pot. let cook until broth has a rich flavor. Enjoy.

I hope everyone is having a blessed week.  Thanksgiving is right around the corner.  It will soon be time to gather with friends and family to celebrate God’s blessing and eat wonderful foods.  Remember to make healthy choices this holiday and keep certain foods in moderation. I have composed a list of some Thanksgiving recipes for you to try,

Sweet Potato Stuffed Oranges:

6 Sweet Potatoes

1/2 Stick Butter

1/4 Cup Orange Juice

1/4 Cup chopped pecans (optional)

6 Large Oranges

Mini Marshmallows (optional)

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
Cover sweet potatoes with cold water in a
large pot and boil until fork tender. Peel the
potatoes, transfer to a bowl, and mash. Stir
in butter, and orange juice and mix
For the orange shells, cut each orange in
half and scoop out the pulp using a small knife or a spoon.
Fill each orange shell with the sweet potato mixture and top off with the marshmallows.
Bake until hot and the marshmallows are melted. Garnish with pecans and serve.

Semolina Wheat Pasta

Sharp and Extra Sharp Cheeses

Parmesan Cheese

Cottage Cheese

 Better Than Sour Cream 

 Cholesterol Free Eggs      

 Cook pasta; add half of the slices of cheese, milk, butter, and seasonings.

Stir with a wooden spoon until melted.  Pour pasta into 9 inch square pan; place the remaining slices of cheese (tear into strips) evenly on top of pasta.  Broil until cheese melts and turns slightly brown.


Cranberry Sauce with Pineapples:

1 bag (12 ounces) Cranberries, washed  

1 cup water


1 ½ cups chopped fresh pineapple (canned pineapple may be substituted)

Place cranberries in a medium sized sauce pan, add agave and water. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer 12 to 15 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in pineapple. Let cool. Store in a covered container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.

What we eat shows in our skin. So if you are eating large amounts of sweets and fried foods your skin will suffer. One key to great skin is always making sure you are drinking water. Juices and sodas are filled with sugar that can affect your skin. Increase your water intake.  There are also several vegetables that are good for your skin.

Carrots: Carrots are high in beta carotene. They help to  give your skin a glow, fight wrinkles and improve your skin.

Spinach: Packed with antioxidants, helps strengthen skin tissue and contains an anti- inflammatory that will flush out toxins.

Tomatoes:  Tomatoes contain an antioxidant called lycopene which has anti-ageing properties and also acts a sunscreen from within. The pulp from the tomato helps tighten pores and prevent breakouts.

Baked Apples and Grilled Sweet Potatoes

Welcome readers! Hope everyone’s week is going well. Apples and sweet potatoes are always popular during the Fall season. Today I am providing you all with their health benefits and a delicious and healthy way to prepare them.

Sweet Potatoes:

 High in fiber

Here are some delicious recipes to try :

Grilled Sweet Potatoes

2 sweet potatoes 

honey or agave

orange juice


                    Slice sweet potatoes. Marinate in orange juice in a bowl.

Add cinnamon and honey or agave. Put on grill for 10 minutes or until tender.

Serve and enjoy

Baked Apples

2 large Apples

2 tablespoons of butter

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

1/3 cup of water or apple juice 

2 tablespoons honey or agave

1/2 tablespoon brown sugar

Make sure to preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Cut the apples in half around the middle. Remove the core and seeds with a small spoon or knife.Place the apples in an ovenproof baking dish. In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, butter, agave, cinnamon and nutmeg. Spoon the mixture into the middle of  the apple halves. Pour water or apple juice into the baking dish.
Bake apples for 40 to 45 minutes, or until the apples are tender, basting them
 with the juices from the baking dish.
Serve warm with plain or vanilla yogurt and a drizzle of honey

Increasing Fiber in Your Daily Diet

Hello! I have created a list  for increasing fiber in your daily diet. Below are a few tips for you to follow.

Eat at least two servings of fruits and vegetables each day. Apples, broccoli, plums, peaches, pears, spinach,cabbage, carrots, and beans are all high in fiber.

Eat a salad daily and use oil based dressings instead of creamy dressings.

Substitute white rice for brown rice.

Eat whole grain breads and cereal

Add green vegetables or leafy greens to your meals.

Healthy Fruit and Vegetable Dips

Hello to all our readers! This week I have some easy and healthy fruit and vegetable dips for you to make. These recipes are perfect for parties , events,  and  game day.

Cinnamon Yogurt Dip 

6-8 ounces plain nonfat yogurt

1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon

1 tablespoon agave or honey

small or medium bowl

Mix together the yogurt, cinnamon, and honey in the bowl. Store in the refrigerator until ready to serve with your fruit tray.

Creamy Vegetable Dip 

2-3 cups of plain yogurt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1 tablespoon parsley

1/2 teaspoon dill weed

2 tablespoons minced onion

medium bowl

Mix together the yogurt, spices, and herbs in the medium bowl until smooth. Place in the refrigerator until ready to serve with your vegetable tray.

Fall Season Juicing Recipes

Hello Everybody!  I am going to share some wonderful fall juicing recipes packed with fruits such as pears and apples and infused with ginger and carrots.  These recipes are filled with nutrients, enzymes, and fiber, not to mention they are delicious!

Carrots, Beets, Apples, and Lemon

          1 beet peeled

        3-4 Carrots

             2 apples cored

1/2 lemon

Fresh ginger peeled to taste

Juice all ingredients and enjoy.

Cinnamon Apple

2- 3 apples cored

Dash of ground ginger

1 tablespoon of honey or agave

1 teaspoon of vanilla

1 teaspoon of cinnamon

a dash of cloves

Juice apples add in vanilla and spices. Enjoy.

Cranberry, Lemon and Orange

1/2 cup fresh pineapple chunks

1 lemon

1 1/2 oranges

4 strawberries hulled 
cup pomegranate juice

2 tablespoons raw honey

Peach Salsa Recipe

4 peaches chopped

2 green onions

1/2 purple onion diced

1 tsp fresh squeezed lime juice

1 tsp grated fresh ginger

1 tsp agave

Combine all ingredients in to a bowl. Mix well. Chill before serving.

Serving suggestions: Great served on the side with chicken, fish, or pita chips.

Here is a delicious peach- strawberry smoothie to try this weekend.

This smoothie recipe is low in calories and provides vitamin-C.

  • 1/2 cup almond milk
  • 2 cups strawberries, hulled and quartered
  • 4 peaches finely chopped
  • 1 frozen banana (optional)
  •  honey or agave to taste
  • 1-2 cups of  ice
